.Summary of Experience
Dr. Bienati has over 20 years’ senior level
management experience in numerous organizational settings. As lead management faculty for Saint Mary’s
College (EED), Moraga, (since 1988) he teaches in the Management, Law, and
Graduate Health Services Programs. He
is also part-time adjunct faculty at U.C. Berkeley where he teaches the human
resources certification courses and leadership courses through the Worldwide
International Business Programs. As a
consultant to management, his client base includes many leading firms in both
the public and private sector. Dr.
Bienati is a respected professional speaker, consultant, author, and
practitioner in the areas of human resource strategy, employee relations law
and practice, executive compensation, strategic planning, change management,

In his various leadership and consulting assignments, Dr. Bienati
helped organizations achieve the following:
Speaking. Contract Administrator and
Professional Speaker. Since 1983, Dr.
Bienati has conducted over 300 formal speaking engagements on a host of
management topics. In addition, he has
appeared on local TV shows like “Make it Your Business” and national satellite
down links where he has spoken on subjects pertaining to TQM, Strategic
Planning and Human Resources.

Leadership Development.
Co-developed a monthly public management development series, “The
Management Leader Program.” This
monthly leadership development process provides leadership training for key
management positions in private and public organizations. Since 1988, over 400 managers have been
trained in 45 different industry settings with measurable outcomes. The session
helps technical leaders of organizations make the transformation to enlightened
organizational leadership.
Organizational Development.
Facilitated TQM and Reengineering processes in at least 30 private and
public organizations. Served as mentor
to leaders of private and public sector organizations engaging in change
management processes. In role as TQM
coordinator for Chamber of Commerce, he provided counsel to many business
enterprises embarking on business development, leadership transition, and preparation
for IPO activities. Assisted many municipalities, counties and state agencies
with business realignment process.
CEO Mentor. Assisted many CEOs at the
start-up and the turnaround phase.
Implemented strategies across all business processes including: HR, management, marketing, operations,
sales, finance and MIS. Primary focus
is to assist organizations experiencing leadership transitions and significant
growth. Helped CEOs evolve into
organizational structures to support business processes resulting from
realignment and IPO preparation. Helped
facilitate the integration of 8 mergers since 1994. References are available.
Outsourcing. Facilitated complete and
partial human resource outsourcing activities for at least 30 organizations
since 1992. Worked with strategic partners to handle all human resources,
payroll, benefit and insurance processes for organizations..
Assessment of Organizational Leaders.
Developed and implemented formal assessment center processes to assist
organizations in identifying and developing current organizational leaders.
Specializes in technical leader transformation to management-leaders. Has
formal infrastructure to assess organizations through 360-degree analysis,
ScanTron and Internet based assessment tools.
Teambuilding. Working in concert with Jerry
Abbott, Consultant to Management, we facilitated over 40 successful
teambuilding sessions since 1986.
Facilitation covers many industry groupings in all industry sectors.
Employee Rehabilitation. As a part
of published Ph.D. research, he implemented over 80 performance action plans
(PAP) in seven industry settings since 1985.
The PAP is an original methodology to assist organizations in
rehabilitating non-performing personnel.
The PAP process is experiencing a 70% success rate in “salvaging the problem
employee.” Larry is hired to handle
complex ER issues.
Project Management/Partnering. Provided
facilitation for strategic partnering arrangements. Currently, a retained facilitator for the Nevada Department of
Transportation and other agencies. Assists organizations in developing
successful project management systems.
Strategic Planning. Facilitated and implemented
strategic planning systems in at least 35 public/private sector organizations.
Compensation. As a certified compensation
professional, he introduced many salary, incentive and stock systems to
organizations.
Investigation. Facilitated major personnel
investigations on a contract basis for the law firm Littler Mendelson P.C, the
County of Alameda, Clapp-Moroney and various clients. Performed many EPLI audits for
organizations. References available.
Employee Relations/Mediation. Provided
mediation and conflict resolution services to organizations experiencing
employee relations and labor/management problems. Additional support provided in resolving lawsuits, negotiating
settlements and creating preventative employee relations practices. Specialist in handling complex performance
issues at all levels of the organization.
Change Mentor. As the project manager
facilitator at Saint Mary’s College School of Business, assisted over 250
managers and leaders from various organizations in implementing successful
change management processes in their respective organizations. Typical organizations included: AT&T, Pac Bell, Kaiser Foundation, John
Muir Hospital, The Nature Company, Fiberboard, Alameda County Sheriffs
Department, Hyatt International, Carpenter’s Trust Fund, U.S. Postal Service,
Hilton Hotels, Sverdup Corporation, Farmers Insurance Group, Nabisco, Chevron
USA, Government Services Administration, and the San Francisco Police
Department.
Organizational Innovation. Introduced
the following human resource contributions to many of the listed clients: 1) legally compliant HR systems 2)
performance appraisal and formal assessment systems; 3) project management
development processes; 4) accredited leadership development programs; 5) new
employee orientation processes; 6) employee benefit redesign to improve ROI and
reduce costs; 7) proactive workers compensation systems; 8) successful
recruitment systems; 9) formalized compensation and incentive systems; 10)
human resource profit center structures; 11) ESOP and executive incentive
systems; 12) employee turnover reduction programs; 13) state of the art quality
of work life programs, 14) formal
compensation, pay for performance systems and stock plan.
In-House Universities. Facilitated
many formal in-house universities to organizations to train the next generation
of management leaders. Received the
President’s Council Award from the Bradshaw Group of Companies in 1993. This was the first time in the
organization’s 23 years this honor was bestowed to an outside consultant for
managing a successful organizational turnaround.
